Javelin

Warriors have thrown spears since the time of cave dwellers. The javelin evolved as a weapon to be used in long distance attacks.
Throwing requires coreand upper body strength but athletes throw with the entire body – from toes to fingertips.
Ancient Greeks included javelin as one of five events in pentathlon. It is the only throwing event that doesn’t take place in a ring.
